Palestinian man disguised as ultra-Orthodox Jew arrested over Jerusalem burglaries
Police say the 29-year-old suspect was carrying suspected stolen property and burglary tools when officers detained him

A 29-year-old Palestinian West Bank resident was arrested in Jerusalem’s Gilo neighborhood Saturday night on suspicion of breaking into homes and stealing belongings while posing as an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man, Israel's police said.
Officers from the Jerusalem District’s Moriah station were dispatched after receiving reports of a suspicious person walking through the neighborhood. Police also received a report of a suspected break-in at a nearby home.
When officers located the suspect, he was wearing black-and-white clothing and a hat, with sidelocks allegedly glued on as part of the disguise, according to police.
A search of his belongings uncovered items suspected of having been stolen, along with tools police believe were used for burglary.
The suspect was taken to the Moriah station for questioning as officers investigated his possible involvement in the reported break-ins.
He subsequently appeared before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, which extended his detention by two days.
