FBI agents shoot armed man trying to break into CIA headquarters
Suspect emerged from car wielding gun outside of CIA headquarters near Washington, DC

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents shot an armed man after a standoff at the entry gate to the CIA headquarters on Monday.
The suspect arrived at the Central Intelligence Agency's main facility in Langley, Virginia, close to Washington, DC, in the early afternoon, according to an FBI statement.
He tried to get past the gates, “emerged from his vehicle with a weapon and was engaged by law enforcement officers.”
Security personnel reportedly attempted to negotiate with the suspect for several hours, while some reports also said the man claimed he had explosives.
Officials told NBC News that the man was known to be mentally disturbed and had previously attempted to enter the heavily-guarded complex.
“The suspect was wounded and has been transported to a hospital for medical attention,” the FBI statement said, without divulging the severity of his injuries.
“Our compound remains secured, and our Security Protective Officers working the incident are the only Agency personnel directly involved,” a CIA spokeswoman said earlier.
Security at US government complexes has been on alert since the storming of the US Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump on January 6, 2021.
