Military says overnight strikes targeted sites in Nabatieh and Ansar after Hezbollah incident on Ali al-Taher Ridge

The IDF said Saturday that it struck Hezbollah infrastructure in the Nabatieh and Ansar areas of southern Lebanon overnight in response to what it described as Hezbollah action against Israeli troops on the Ali al-Taher Ridge. Lebanese state media said seven people were killed and three wounded in a strike on a home near Ansar, while reporting heavy Israeli strikes on the strategic ridge overlooking Nabatieh.
The strikes come as a fragile June ceasefire and US-brokered framework for Hezbollah’s disarmament and a phased Israeli withdrawal remain deadlocked. Defense Minister Israel Katz said Thursday that Israeli forces would stay in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed, after Washington warned that a permanent Israeli presence would violate the framework, while Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem on Friday again rejected the agreement and the group’s disarmament.
IDF says it killed Hezbollah Radwan commander in southern Lebanon strike
The IDF said Saturday that it killed Ali Samir Al-Haj Hassan, a battalion commander in Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, in an overnight strike on a Hezbollah headquarters in the Ansar area of southern Lebanon.
According to the military, the strike came after a Hezbollah attack on IDF soldiers operating in the security zone under the ceasefire agreement. Several other Hezbollah operatives involved in planning attacks on Israeli troops were also killed, the IDF said.
The military acknowledged that members of Hassan's family were present at the headquarters and were harmed in the strike, but said they were not targeted. It accused Hassan of using his family as human shields.
PMO: Hezbollah attack seriously wounds 3 IDF soldiers in Lebanon security zone
The Prime Minister’s Office said Saturday that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire in Lebanon by attacking Israeli troops in the security zone near the border, seriously wounding three soldiers.
The PMO said the IDF responded by striking the Hezbollah headquarters that ordered the attack. It said the military only later learned that Hezbollah had deliberately placed civilians inside the compound, accusing the group of using them as human shields and rejecting claims that Israel had intentionally targeted civilians.

He said seven people killed in an Israeli strike on the town of Ansar, including women and children, were not “military infrastructure” or military targets. He also cited Israeli airstrikes and heavy shelling in Nabatieh, Deir Zahrani and surrounding villages.
