During a Rosh Hashanah toast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated Thursday that Israel has the ability to eliminate the threat posed by Iran and ultimately bring down its government, describing regime change as the country’s principal remaining mission. “I am convinced of our ability to remove this threat once and for all, that is, to topple this regime,” the Prime Minister said. Netanyahu claimed Iran’s leadership was “weaker than ever” and “fighting for its life,” while praising Israel’s military achievements over the past three years. Meanwhile, at the same toast. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that Iran, under mounting economic pressure and fearing internal uprising, may resort to "desperate measures" against Israel.

EU joins US-led "Operation Economic Outcast" against Iran; Tehran calls it "economic terrorism"

The European Union formally joined the US-led "Operation Economic Outcast" sanctions campaign against Iran, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Thursday, praising the bloc's "strong and early stance"

Brussels said in an August 31 statement it supports efforts to counter Iran's "destabilizing activities" and encourage a return to peace talks through added economic pressure

Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei criticized the move, accusing the EU of surrendering its "sovereignty, its laws and regulations, values and ethics to US coercion"

The campaign, launched in late August, targets Iran's access to digital assets, advanced technology, gold reserves, aviation and shipping; Bessent has warned of new secondary sanctions weekly, initially focused on banks facilitating Iran-related transactions
