Biden confirms picks for top national security jobs
'It's a team that will keep our country and our people safe and secure,' Biden says

The presumptive US President-elect Biden officially announced his picks for top national security jobs on Tuesday.
Among names mentioned on the list of security team nominations was former State Secretary John Kerry as the first US envoy on climate change.
During Kerry's tenure, the US joined the 2015 Paris climate agreement, with Biden saying Kerry's appointment showcases his determination to be bold in fighting global warming.
Biden confirmed that his foreign policy advisor Antony Blinken will be nominated as the State Secretary, while ex-Deputy Homeland Security Secretary will be tapped to take over the Homeland Security Department.
Biden also tapped Avril Haines, former Deputy National Security Advisor and CIA deputy chief, for the position of the Director of National Intelligence.
Jake Sullivan, former Deputy Chief of Staff at the State Department, was nominated for the position of National Security Advisor.
Seasoned US diplomat Linda Thomas-Greenfield will be nominated to represent the US at the United Nations, Biden announced.
"It's a team that will keep our country and our people safe and secure," he said. "It's a team that reflects the fact that America is back. Ready to lead the world, not retreat from it."
