Poll: Israel only country in Middle East to prefer Trump over Biden for president
Some 69% of UAE respondents said they had a favorable view of former president Joe Biden
Israel is the only country in the Middle East to favor Donald Trump over Democratic challenger Joe Biden for president of the United States, according to a recent poll commissioned by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Jerusalem.
The survey was carried out among representative samples of populations belonging to Israel, the Palestinian Authority, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Morocco.
Donald Trump received a 40 percent favorability rating in all of these countries, against 47% who expressed an unfavorable view.
For his part, his challenger, Joe Biden had a 46% favorable opinion and a 30% unfavorable rating.
In Israel, however, 58% of respondents said they viewed the US president favorably over his Democratic rival.
The country that held the most positive view of Joe Biden is the United Arab Emirates, where 69% of those polled said they had a positive opinion of him.
But the UAE is also the only Arab-majority country in which more than half of the population (52%) has a favorable opinion of Trump.
The Palestinian population held the worst opinion of the American president, with only 15% holding a positive opinion, against 67% who said they disapprove of him being in office.
The Palestinians also have a negative opinion of Joe Biden: Only 26% viewed the former vice president favorably and 41% said they had an overall negative view.
